Cliff Randell (UK)

Born in Cardiff, educated in Glasgow, Cliff chose the University of Bristol to study Electronics and Electrical Engineering for his first degree. After a career in broadcast engineering and resource management with the BBC, he returned to academia to complete a Master's Degree in Computer Science, and then undertake research into Wearable Computing. This was initially in collaboration with Hewlett-Packard's European Labs, and then later as part of the UK EPSRC's Equator IRC. His work with wearable context sensors has led to several successful artistic collaborations including 'Walk in the Woods' at HPLabs; 'Your Heart On My Sleeve' shown at SIGGRAPH04; 'Hosts' in Bath Abbey; and 'Come Closer' with squidsoup.
