A testimonial from the world´s first "clean war"; the NATO intervention against former FR Yugoslavia, won exclusively with air strikes, keeping a "Safe Distance" between the pilot´s navigation screen and the reality of the outside world.
Safe Distance is a video that was recorded during NATO air strikes against FR Yugoslavia. The video tape shows the electronic cockpit of a US Air Force plane. There were 4 airplanes flying from NATO-base from Italy to destination in Yugoslavia. Mission objective was to bomb several targets in the area around the city of Novi Sad. On the way back, after the mission was completed, one plane was shot. The black box tape (Sony Video 8) was found near the crashed plane in Fruska Gora mountain in the Srem region. It shows the basic graphical cockpit interface, underlined with the voice communication between the pilots.
The video, edited by kuda.org and published on the web, is a testimonial from the world´s first “clean war”. The NATO intervention against former FR Yugoslavia was won exclusively with air strikes, keeping a “Safe Distance” between the pilot´s navigation screen and the reality of the outside world.
