Laila El-Haddad (PS/USA)

Is a Palestinian freelance journalist, photographer, mother and media consultant based between the United States and the Gaza Strip.
She spent the past three years in Gaza reporting for the Aljazeera Satellite Network's english language website (now part of Aljazeera English) and Pacifica Radio's Free Speech Radio news. Her work is also frequently found in the Guardian Unlimited, the BBC World Service, and the Electronic Intifada, and has been published in Le Monde Diplomatique, the New Statesman, the International Herald Tribune, and the Washington Post.
She is the author of the blog Raising Yousuf: Diary of a Palestinian Mother, named after her two-year-old son, where she writes about the trials and tribulations of motherhood under occupation.
Laila received her B.A. from Duke University in Political Science and Comparative Area Studies in May 2000 and earned her Master's in Public Policy, with a concentration in International Security from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
In what little free time she has left, Laila enjoys boxing, film , and exploring the history of food.
