José van Dijck is a Professor of Media and Culture at the University of Amsterdam and Chair of the Media Studies Department. She published a number of articles and books on medicine, technology and media, including Manufacturing Babies and Public Consent. Debating the New Reproductive Technologies (New York University Press 1995), ImagEnation. Popular Images of Genetics (New York University Press 1998) and The Transparent Body. A Cultural Analysis of Medical Imaging (Seattle: University of Washington Press, 2005). Her new book, Mediated Memories in the Digital Age is forthcoming with Stanford University Press (Spring 2007).
