Conceptual Digram

The idea of this module is to give form to a aspect of the artistic work which often remains invisible or hidden, especially in the new media practices, where technology takes all the attention. This aspect if the theoretical dimension of our creative practice, the concepts and visions through and from which we compose forms : sounds, images, devices...

This part of the workshop approach the notion of technique not from a technological approach but from the point of view of writing, applying techniques to language and words, to reveal latent meanings, generate new meanings, etc.

This part consisted in several elements :

_initiating discussions from films and sound pieces : Un chien Andalou by Bunuel and Dali, Yes Hello by Burroughs + introduction to the cut up technique, and several sound pieces : Rain Forest by David Tudor, Roompiece by Schumacher, I am sitting in the room by Alvin Lucier...

_work in progress conceptual diagram. We extracted concepts from several texts we wrote or read (On Machines by Felix Guattari, The Electronic Revolution by William Burroughs, Rhytmanalysis by Henri Lefèbvre, The invention of everyday life by Michel de Certeau...), and made some paper domino's with these concepts, that could be interlinked by the participants through out the workshop and discussions. These concepts are then themselves linked to texts fragments or pictures...

The idea is to build a ongoing and open diagram that can evolve accordingly to the link that are made little by little.
